It's sad to see the sorry state of governance these days. locals losing jobs to foreign talents or cheap coolie, infrastructure breakdown, inflation with stagnant salary.. And now RIOT caused by the same people that govt allowed in masses...

Aren't we pissing off local Singaporeans and feeding a group of people with 0 loyalty when it comes to nation Pride and long term contribution. Locals and the govt are being bullied and I must say that this would not happen under LKY'S GOVERNANCE.

ITS TIME TO SHOW REAL CARE TO THE REAL CITIZENS OF SINGAPORE AND UNITE ALL TO REBUILD THIS COUNTRYS MORALE. DONT RUN IT LIKE AN MNC WHERE ONLY $ and cents count.

FT WILL LEAVE AFTER ENJOYING ALL THE PERKS OF A SG PASSPORT OR TAXE RATE.

Riots are a very rare occurance in Singapore thanks to the PAP.

If the WP was running the country, riots would be occurring on a monthly basis.

Riots are a crime and Singapore has low crime. However, it doesn't mean that there is NO crime. It's just that it does not happen very often.

In NZ, rioting mobs ruin the suburbs on a regular basis. When the police arrive, they are pelted with beer bottles. Thank your lucky stars that the same does not happen in Singapore thanks to the able leadership of the PAP.

It's only 5 police cars and an ambulance decimated. Nothing when compared to the LTA HQ which costs close to a billion dollars.
Thanks to the SPF and PAP govt, no migrant workers were killed in this riot. It would a a sad day for Singapore if any of the migrant workers were killed as they're the reason Singapore has prospered so much.

there should be a holiday to honour foreign workers and Ah Neh constructions workers to recognize for their nation building. Without them new HDB estate, 2 Casinos and MBS will not be build quick and boost GDP for LHL.

Things will get worse and it will be under the PAP. Singapore is like a ocean liner now, you cannot stop or change course that easily. Too many greedy decisions made in the past will have their consequences. I think the PAP have made some calculations and they will allow some deterioration in living conditions and law and order if it does not impact economic growth too much. Just make sure the stats show that Singapore is still better than other countries e.g. New Zealand. You can bet riots will not happen in districts 9 , 10 and 11 as one TS has already pointed out.

Yeah, the PAP has been avidly reading the literature to learn how elites should manage peasants. They have been very successful so far. Intellectually they realize the peasants are getting smarter, emotionally they want the old ways to work as they used to. Hence the talk of repressive measures against the online media. The more interesting response was to discourage too many uni grads. Of course why go through the expense of creating more mediocre grads when you can import them from not far away if needed?

riots in Singapore can quickly worsen to a scenario much worse compared to other countries given the delicate and fragile 'racial harmony' system here. ystd's incident has already shown the tip of the iceberg. we see the paramedics and police also backing away as they are being outnumbered. if nothing is being done soon enough, the remaining true colors will definitely cause a big headache for the law enforcers.
