The Manpower Ministry is reminding the public that Deepavali this year will fall on Saturday the 17th of October.

The date has been gazetted as a public holiday.

Sunday 15 November and Monday 16 November are no longer public holidays.

The Ministry had issued a statement in February regarding the change of date.

Nothing to do with PAP. It happens every year, follows the Diwali date in India and that is based on estimated lunar cycles but the actual date would be known closer.

my friend from msia told me.. deepavali there is on sunday and they got monday ph .. there

Sorry to Indians and Malays, but your calendar systems suck. The western Gregorian and the Zhou Chinese calendars still most accurate, never miss a day.

how u know suppose to give on sunday but pressure dont give else monday automatic holiday.,. and lot of ppl like us take mc.. on tuesday

hehe

no productive lehh
:D

Actually, I think that the PAP don't give a damn when's Deepavali. The Brahmins decide and tell them when, that's when.

Hey, this man looks like the hanging man fr Changi Prison! Little wonder he's leading a good life hanging condemned prisoners!!

How blunt, but can't disagree. Don't know about the Malay calendar. There was squabbling between some India mathematics gurus over the 17 Oct date.
