In a little more than a month, the PAP has come out to dispel rumors on the ground that employers’ CPF may be cut in the following year to help companies cut cost.

First it was NTUC Chief Mr Lim Swee Say: (VIDEO)

Now it is the ex-NTUC Chief Mr Lim Boon Heng’s turn to allay the fears of the public: (VIDEO)

Notice that both have stopped short of repudiating the possibility of CPF cuts entirely in their speeches. Read carefully between the lines: we do not rule out CPF cuts in the future should the economy worsens.

The PAP’s “reassurance” is hardly reassuring to the workers. It is akin to paving an exit road for themselves first in the event of a CPF cut which is now looming over the horizon, a mere sweetener for the “bitter medicine” later on.

The only thing that should be cut is their pay.
