PAP must Do More for the Elderly...

Statistics don't reveal individual experiences but it's useful for making comparisons.

The bottom line is that life expectancy is longer in Singapore than it is in Canada.

If you feel that the list is meaningless, try moving to one of the countries where life expectancy is 50.

If life expectancy is higher in Spore than Canada. Then that proves my contention that statistics does not give the whole picture. The quality of life in Canada is definitely much better than it is in Spore.

With the $$$ I've saved up I can comfortably live in Thailand with it's cheaper costs. I don't even have to sell my home in Spore.
I've already started checking out some of the hospitals in Bangkok i.e. Bumrungrad Hospital I hope to check out some other hospitals on my next visit.
I don't know what the life expectancy is in Thailand but the hospitals do have an excellent reputation. Many of the doctors from this hospital have had training in the US.

The only thing stopping me is the number of available options open to me & not because of the quality of life in Spore Spore is just too crowded & expensive for my tastes & I expect it to get worse as long as the PAP remains in power e.g. population white paper.

The elderly would be those who were born after WWII, during the 50's the "baby boomers", who would have accumulated large amount of CPF monies after deducting for their low cost housing, starting work in the 70's, even after deducting the cost for an upgrade housing; would be retiring in 2000's. These are the elderly in which the 'whities' have hard time coming out with their retirement money, that is why they keep raising the min sum. The younger ones will have no CPF to collect when they retire after paying for their expensive housing..etc.

These are the elderly....not the low income people from that era, many of whom have no CPF...those who work regular & have regular contribution...their minimum holdings would be around $100,000 in CPF money, not including the flat, wether original or upgrade.

These elderly one day, will be shouting in Hong Lim Park...."WHERE IS MY MONEY"!! ha ha ha ha

Each year more & more people will ask this question. I'm sure that it will be just as important as the population issue because with so many foreigners comming into Spore, many older Sporeans will lose their jobs to these cheaper & younger foreigners.

Actually if the govt have a heart to give $300-500 monthly to the low or no income locally born citizens who are above 65yrs, then they do not have to wipe tables or collecting cardboards as many of their children's income with their own families also could not keep up with the rising cost of living, thus cannot give much to their old parents.
This will also reduce alot of stress for those below 65. If say abt 100k of these people above 65 qualifies, @ $300 each will mean spending only $30mil a month afterall with the billions of $ from the govt MONTHLY income after public expenditures NOW, $30mil a mth still sup sup suey for them. Correct or not?
