I remember when I was young, every Deepavali, I get invited to an Indian family for a meal, my Malay neighbour invites me to their homes for Hari Raya & so did my Singh Neighbour for their whatever occasion. I do not have to go all out making a spectacle of myself dressing like them; I go, as I am..nor do I expect them to dress like us, when they are invited to the house for Lunar New Year.
I do not see the point of dressing up like "THEM"?. The troop of "monkeys" should make it much more authentic , place a red dot on their forehead or buy those stick on at Little India, wear those ankle bangles & learn how to dance from Ravi. They must know, how to shake their head & stick their tongue out correctly, not like Miley Cyrus. Must know how to prance round the coconut tree & to drop handkerchief too. One more thing rub coconut oil on their hair & smell like sandalwood plus Jasmine's. Must have wet patches on the armpits too & give off BO. ha ha ha ha
