Mr Teo’s tribute, however, did not go down too well among his fans. When the Strait Times later shared his post, the number of commenters who felt that the ‘tribute’ was “distasteful” also grew in number. In fact, it drew so much flak that he deleted the post soon after. Some, like Mr Benny and Ms Li also drew comparisons between Ministers who were under Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s Government and the current slate of Ministers and lamented at the “type of Ministers we have now.”

With the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew early on Monday morning, many MPs and Ministers have taken to facebook to share their tributes and memories about Mr Lee.

Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck decided to dedicate his morning workout to Mr Lee and he received a lot of flak for it with many saying he was self-glorifying and insensitive.

Teo Ser Luck shared a photo and wrote what his cross-fit work out that morning was:

In response, many netizens criticized him about it:

For some critics, Mr Teo replied and justified himself.

Other critical comments, he simply deleted.

His original status was shared widely online and was even shared by Straits Times. Despite having 235 shares, it seems that he went on a comment purge as there are less than 30 comments left as of this morning.

Ministers of state or otherwise as primarily parliamentarians should make legislations encouraging Singaporeans to keep fit (just like baby bonuses encourage childbirth etc) rather than exploiting the names of our founding fathers to sell themselves on Facebook/ blogs.

Then again, what more can be expected of someone who hitched a ride into parliament on the coat-tails of somebody else... moneytising everything they can for personal glory/ benefit???!!!
