Former Member of Parliament for Joo Chiat Chan Soo Sen was disqualified from driving for a year and fined $2,000 for drink driving. -- ST PHOTO: WONG KWAI CHOW

By Khushwant Singh

Former Member of Parliament for Joo Chiat Chan Soo Sen was on Thursday disqualified from driving for a year and fined $2,000 for drink driving.

He was caught by mobile police after attending a charity event at 11.55pm on July 13. A breathalyser test revealed he had 50mg of alcohol per 100ml, over the legal limit of 35mg.

Mr Chan said he had "a moment of carelessness".

He could not get a taxi to the event, so he decided to drive. After the event, he also did not ask a car jockey to drive him home. He said organisers of the charity event had toasted him.

Like I said before, if you stripped the MPs of their status in parliament, they will end up like anyone in this forum. Lee Swee Say should have been taken down decade ago and he may ended up as taxi driver or even road bully.

The above news is not surprising at all. This explains why the MPs are so desperate to hold on to their title and polished their master in whichever way possible even if they were to sell their soul and conscience to earn that million dollars bucks to last for generations.

acc ST as in asiaone http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/drink-driving-ban-and-fine-ex-mp

The traffic court heard that he had been travelling along Cantonment Road towards Outram Road when he was stopped at a police road block just before midnight on July 13.

At the Traffic Police headquarters in Ubi Avenue 3, a Breath Evidential Analyser test indicated 50mg of alcohol in every 100ml of his breath - in excess of the 35mg legal limit.

from drinkdrive location cantonment road to breathanalyser location at TP HQ ubi ave

time lapse half hour or even much more more. is this action normal?????

will reduce time lapse reduce alcohol content in the breath
