From 1966 to 1981, PAP had a 100% Parliament. It's almost rarity for any PAP candidate to lose, but there had been some. Enjoy the honours roll.

1981 : Pang Kim Hin, lost in Anson to JB Jeyaretnam (WP)

1984 : Ng Pock Too, lost in Anson to JB Jeyaretnam (WP)

1984 : Mah Bow Tan, lost in Potong Pasir to Chiam See Tong (SDP)

1988 : Kenneth Chen, lost in Potong Pasir to Chiam See Tong (SDP)

1991 : Andy Gan, lost in Potong Pasir to Chiam See Tong (SDP)

1991 : Seet Ai Mee, lost in Bukit Gombak to Ling How Doong (SDP)

1991 : Ng Pock Too*, lost in Nee Soon Central to Cheo Chai Chen (SDP)

1991 : Tang Guan Seng, lost in Hougang to Low Thia Khiang (WP)

1997 : Heng Chee How, lost in Hougang to Low Thia Khiang (WP)

1997 : Andy Gan*, lost in Potong Pasir to Chiam See Tong (SPP)

2001 : Sitoh Yih Pin, lost in Potong Pasir to Chiam See Tong (SPP)

2001 : Eric Low, lost in Hougang to Low Thia Khiang (WP)

2006 : Eric Low*, lost in Hougang to Low Thia Khiang (WP)

2006 : Sitoh Yih Pin*, lost in Potong Pasir to Chiam See Tong (SPP)

*2nd loss. No PAP candidate has lost a 3rd time.

Thank goodness for our robust GRC system, if not we'd have 2 less ministerial exceptional talents unable to serve the greater public.

That was close! Whew... :eek::eek::eek:

For your info, MBT is the one with the coattails in Tampines. He would probably be better off standing alone. MS Goh is mad to go after him.

Second chances...

Ng Pock Too (NTUC Income Chairman) actually beat Cheo Chai Chen in Nee Soon Central 1988 after losing to JB Jeyaretnam in Anson 1984, only to lose NSC to CCC in 1991.

Mah Bow Tan (Minister for National Development) was "transferred" to Tampines GRC in 1988 after losing to Chiam See Tong in Potong Pasir 1984.

Heng Chee How (MOS Trade & Industry, NTUC Asst. Sec. Gen.) was "transferred" to Jalan Besar GRC in 2001 after losing to Low Thia Khiang in Hougang 1997.

Andy Gan was "transferred" to Marine Parade GRC in 2001 for an one-term MP after losing twice to Chiam See Tong in Potong Pasir 1991 and 1997.

ramseth,

Dont be like that lah..Old Man already had a few bypasses, his son had lymphoma, his wife paralysed and bedridden..don't torture them with bad memories lah.

The information provided by TS is very interesting. Some I didn't even know, some I knew but had forgotten, some I knew and can never forget. :)

But I disagree with the title of the thread.
There's nothing wrong with losing an election or losing and later getting in through the back door or front door or losing and never coming back.
Depending on the individuals and what they have done or said, some of those who have lost are more respectable than some who have never lost, but didn't go all out to help needy singaporeans.
