That opposition MPs are being stonewalled or blocked from carrying out their duties is, sadly, nothing new in Singapore. In the 1980s, MPs J B Jeyaretnam and Chiam See Tong had to build their own makeshift town council offices because they were not allowed to take over the premises that had been left behind by their defeated predecessors. Low Thia Khiang, the former MP of Hougang, had to conduct his meet-the-people sessions in void decks for 20 years.

What is really a cause for concern is that the People’s Association seems to have subtly and surreptitiously involved itself in the Presidential Election as well.

Many will consider me naive, but I had hopes after the General Elections that the PAP would truly learn its lessons, and become a fair and just party truly focused on doing the right thing for all Singaporeans -- instead of working for the party's own narrow interests. I now see that that was too much to hope for.

Well, let's just say that the PAP MPs and prospective candidates better have a Plan B in 2016, in case they lose. Many of them will likely need to use it.

THe PAP dinosaurs are simply outdated and past their use by date with their outdated modus operandi of the 60s of harassment/intidimdation tactics by using their proxies eg PA, CCC, Unions etc etc whom everyone knows is also PAP!

Every voter can relate to such unfairness and sees himself as the small man and the PAP the big BULLY. Everyone knows how hated a BULLY is and the chance to get back is the GE. With the PE2011 so close on Saturday, it could be a turning point with Tan Jee Say becoming President.

unless the council offices are NOT built using public money lah.................otherwise opposition MPs can use what...............

of course since we're on a prison island and LKY is the warden then boh bian lor.................
