SINGAPORE - There are no guidelines, but call it a basic expectation. When it comes to taking part in political activities, town council employees may not have anything in black-and-white to go by, except to be mindful of how they are viewed in their workplace.

"In Singapore, town councils are headed by Members of Parliament who are elected in a political process, namely the GE. As we've seen in this election, town council matters are discussed as political issues. It's therefore difficult to see the town council as non-political. It's very existence and selection is a result of an election process," he told MediaCorp. "Involvement of staff in political activities must logically and realistically be viewed in that context. We are, after all, a People's Action Party town council."

Mr Zainudin, who was chairman of his town council before Parliament was dissolved, offered an analogy, though: "I'd imagine if someone were to work for a particular brand, he or she would minimally be expected not to promote, market or use another competitor's product, services or brand. It's basic common sense, I think."

taken from Today,,,,,

what the fuck is this?

does that mean that if the opposition wants to work in town councils or any PAP/current government related agencies, we have to vote out the fucking PAP?

CCB,,, work or don't work in these agencies,,,,, lets see if these fuckers can talk cock after getting vote out

Utter rubbish. End of the day the town council is not paid for by the party. It is just another in-direct way of warning those that voted against them. Toadying bunch.

Town councils are political. They are appointed directly by elected MPs (nobody else has a say). You think Low Thia Khiang will allow you to fly a PAP flag on your desk in Aljunied-Hougang Town Council?

Town Council should fly National flag, not any party flag.

we are not talking about flag flying in the office or ability to perform,,,, just because you are affiliated to an opposition party, you would not employ the person,,,,

how naive and short sighted the PAP MPs are....

lianbeng says, "whether papayas or oppos, at the end of the day, all NATO experts taijee masters nia lah. No Action Tokcok Only. all back to square 1." :D

Ask yourself who created GRCs & what was the real motivation? If you know the answer, you'll also understand that town councils are & have always been intended to be a political appendage of the party running it; mostly PAP though!
