SINGAPORE - Political activist Han Hui Hui was dragged out of the public hearing by Select Committee on deliberate online falsehoods in Parliament House on Thursday (March 29), after causing disruption and refusing to leave despite being asked to do so.

Ms Han was not invited by the panel to share her views on the Government's bid to combat deliberate online falsehoods, and was seated in the gallery when the incident happened.

Blogger Han Hui Hui was carried out of the Select Committee hearing room by Parliament staff on Thursday afternoon (March 29), disrupting the session midway.

She was earlier seen holding up a stack of papers that looked like posters, which said "Authoritarian rule of law". Parliament staff entered the room and spoke to her about the papers.

She insisted those were blank papers she was using to take notes, and hugged them to her chest.

The Parliament staff came back with police officers, and asked her to leave the room. She refused to, and eventually passed them the whole stack of papers.

When told the officers had questions for her, she refused to leave her seat and insisted she did not want to miss the hearing. Historian Thum Ping Tjin was giving evidence at the time.
