Already succeeded with Y-20 transporter jet and mass produced + developing variants, but PLA not stopping there. Bigger transporter jets are being developed, sorting stronger air lift capacity.

wzde-hamfahx6258952.jpg

WcxD-hamfahx6259019.jpg

The 20 military transport capacity of our military can't meet the needs of the strategic air force or it will make a huge fortune

Since entering the 21st century, China has invested huge funds and numerous talents in the field of national defense and military. Therefore, China’s weapon development speed has entered the highest historical period. In many military fields, large-scale transport aircraft is a technological fortress that China must break through. Through the unremitting efforts of generations of military research personnel in China, Wanyun 20 is finally serving. In order to have a long-term plan for the development of China's large transport aircraft, on May 7, Shaanxi Liangliang held the "2018 China Large and Medium Military Civil Aircraft Development Summit". During the conference, the 20th Chief Designer Tang Changhong delivered a keynote speech. The detailed description of China's history in the development of large-scale military transport aircraft and future plans.

The transport of the 20 large transport aircraft has attracted attention since its inception, because it is the latest large-scale transport aircraft independently developed by China and incorporates all of China’s technological experience in the field of large aircraft. Prior to this, China’s scientific research in the field of military large transport aircraft was almost blank and it had to rely on imports from Russia and other countries for a long time. Therefore, its R&D has important implications for China’s strategic security. It can be said that his significance to our country is absolutely no less than that of the 20th family that belongs to the 20th family. One has enabled China to have air supremacy equal to that of the United States, and the other has enabled China's strategic delivery capability to advance into the global ranks.

However, we must see that even though Yunyun 20 is China’s latest state-of-the-art large-scale transport aircraft, the gap between China and Russia and the United States in this respect is still very large. In the future, China must develop larger and more advanced military technologies. Transport aircraft to meet China's strategic needs. As far as the current situation is concerned, Yun 20 does not fully satisfy China's huge demand for delivery. The transport of the 20 large transport aircraft should be a technological platform. Our scientific research workers will develop more advanced weapon systems based on his experience.

However, the military needs of a country often do not match the military capabilities of a country. Many people question whether China can develop a more advanced large-scale transport aircraft. On this issue, the Chief Transporter 20 said at the meeting: The manufacture of larger aircraft still needs to look at the needs of the country. In the field of transport aircraft of the aviation industry, there is greater determination and information! In this case, it is obviously very confident. The development depends on the country’s strategic needs, not on the strength of China’s military industry.

In all fairness, China’s military scientific research capability has made a huge leap forward today. The words of the 20th Chief Transporter are fully in line with China’s current scientific research strength. Our country wants to build something that is lacking in a powerful military. Scientific research workers are solving one by one. Including Yun 20, most of the 20 families have already fulfilled their service. The last big killer, H20 is also suspected in recent days. Exposure, predictable, is that a powerful Chinese army will soon come! (Author's signature: sharp/DY)

nGgn-hamfahx6047934.jpg

The Chinese Air Force’s attention at this time was once more than the "small dumplings" of the navy. While waiting for the 002 aircraft carrier's sea trials, the Air Force frequently disclosed major news, the First Marine Training of the Sui-20, and the Su-35 outbound chain training. H-20 disclosed for the first time that Yun-20 conducted an extreme flight test while training in airborne airdrops. The actual combat capability was already established.

As for another major news about Yun-20, AVIC used a special way to disclose that in an MV video officially released by AVIC, Yun-20 air tanker was exposed. The video footage can be seen, Yun-20. It uses the most advanced hard tube refueling method.
Air Refueling: Operation 20歼31 Fighter Formation Air Refueling: Operation 20歼31 Fighter Formation

This is beyond the expectation of many people. Everyone knows that Yun-20 will inevitably be transformed into an air refueling machine, but one appearance is that the most advanced hard pipe fueling technology has brought surprises to everyone.

However, currently the Chinese Air Force's aircraft is capable of carrying hard-tube oil-receiving models with only the S-20 stealth fighter, but it is more practical. The Air Force is most urgently required to use the Hyundai-20 tanker with hose refueling technology. In addition to the various military equipment of the current empty-skilled equipment, even the new models of H-6N and Air-City-500 that are capable of receiving oil are using hose technology.
New Breakthrough 20th Edition Airborne Tanker Exposure New Breakthrough Win 20 Edition Skyward Tanker Exposure

Analysts believe that AVIC disclosed the Yun-20 air refueling machine for hard-pipe refueling technology, or Yun- 20 R&D has proved that the use of hose refueling technology has been completed. Previously, China's self-developed bombing oil-6, although with a small amount of fuel, has solved China's problems in this area and accumulated in-flight refueling technology, which will undoubtedly accelerate the development of Yun-20 refueler. effect.

According to analysis, Yun-20, which has just entered the mass production phase, is currently transported to the military for transport aircraft. The transport aircraft and fuel dispensers are equipment that the Air Force urgently lacks. If it is currently only for national epidemic prevention and coastal air defense missions, The existing military aircraft can do a good job of military tasks without refueling and relying on a small amount of Il-78 tankers and 6 bombers.
New Breakthrough 20th Edition Airborne Tanker Exposure New Breakthrough Win 20 Edition Skyward Tanker Exposure

However, the objectives of China’s strategic air force are far more than that. Refuelers are multipliers for the deployment of Air Force combat capability. In the modern Air Force combat system, it is an extremely important part, such as H-6K. If you refuel in the first island chain, increase the The voyage allows the H-6K to carry the long-range cruise missile Long Sword-10 can radiate to the United States, which brings strategic significance is extraordinary. After the other military aircraft have refueled, the overall defense line in the southeast China sea area will advance 500 to 1,000 kilometers. (Author's signature: Frontier post)

Amid all its upgrades and advances, the US Navy’s newest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, is lacking one feature: urinals.

Every bathroom on the Ford is, for the first time, gender-neutral, equipped with flush toilets and stalls, according to Navy Times.

Bathroom-design experts have said sit-down toilets are less sanitary and take up more space, and most of the Ford’s crew members are men. (Women are only about 18% of the Navy.)

But the Navy has said getting rid of urinals has advantages for current and future operations.

Making every bathroom accessible to all of the ship’s sailors will make things more convenient for sailors, the Navy has said. And bathrooms that can be used by either gender mean the Navy can reassign them without making any design changes, should the crew’s makeup change.

“This is designed to give the ship flexibility because there aren’t any berthing areas that are dedicated to one sex or the other,” Operations Specialist 1st Class Kaylea Motsenbocker told Navy Times. “So if this space was needed for males, we could shift the females to other berthing areas and make this all male without any modification being necessary.”

Other changes include redesigned sleeping areas with fewer beds in each room, different spaces for sleeping and recreation, wider passageways, better gyms, better air conditioning, and more efficient light bulbs. USB ports have been installed to make it easier for sailors to charge cellphones and other devices.

Beyond the bathrooms, the Ford – which is the first Ford-class aircraft carrier – has 23 new or modified technologies.

The ship’s island is smaller and farther back on the flight deck, allowing more space for air operations. Inside, the traditional throttle system has been switched out for an updated, one-of-a-kind touch-screen display. “This ship can basically drive itself,” Petty Officer 1st Class Jose Triana told CNN.

In addition to carrying more aircraft, the Ford will also use the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System rather than steam power used on Nimitz-class ships. The EMALS system is designed to offer more control and precision when launching aircraft and will be used despite President Donald Trump’s vocal objection earlier this year.

The EMALS system is also part of the Ford’s switch to electrical power. The ship will be able to produce three times as much power as Nimitz-class ships, and the Navy has said replacing steam-powered systems with electrical ones will open space for future technologies.

Flight operations will also use the Advanced Arresting Gear system to recover aircraft. The AAG system will allow Ford-class ships to work with air systems that Nimitz-class ships are not interoperable with.

The Ford’s roughly 40 fuel stations are more than on any Nimitz-class ship and allow for fueling from multiple places on the ship with fewer personnel. The ship’s dual-band radar works on two frequencies at the same time. It can pick up low-altitude objects and track both incoming and outgoing aircraft and weapons.

Ford-class carriers will also use electromagnetic fields to raise and lower platforms instead of cables, saving space and reducing maintenance and personnel requirements over time.

All these advances and upgrades have presented challenges to the Navy and to the sailors who will man the Ford. The ship’s first crew members have more or less written the book on how to operate it.

“We’re creating guidelines,” Triana told the Associated Press this month. “Were creating operational – basically instructions – on how to operate this ship with its systems and its new design.”

“We have, no doubt, without question, subject-matter experts on these new systems,” Capt. Brent Gaut, the Ford’s executive officer, told the AP. “They’ve been training on them for upwards of two, three years now. There’s no one else in the fleet that has some of the systems we have. They are the go-to personnel on how to operate and how to execute with the new systems that we have.”

The new and updated technology poured into the Ford have caused trouble for the Navy during the ship’s construction and development.

“With the benefit of hindsight, it was clearly premature to include so many unproven technologies” in the Ford, according to an August 23 memo to Navy Secretary Ray Mabus. The Ford’s new dual-band radar and some components of its new, more powerful nuclear reactor also encountered problems during the ship’s development.

While the Ford is now ready to ply the seas, Navy commanders appear to be cautious about repeating the technological leaps taken with the ship. In addition to problems with the launching and arresting systems, the $12.9 billion warship also experienced budget overruns and scheduling delays.

While the Ford passed builder’s trials this spring, it did not undergo shock trials – where the Navy detonates explosives near the ship to test its ability to withstand the strain. The Navy’s first-in-class ships don’t always face shock trials, however, and the next ship in the class, the USS John F. Kennedy, will do them.

“When we look back, the Ford took on some major goals for ourselves, some real reach goals in terms of technology. And so as we look forward to designing and building ships of the future, particularly given how quickly technology is advancing, maybe we take smaller steps,” Adm. John Richardson, the Navy’s chief of naval operations, told USNI News prior to the Ford’s commissioning this weekend.

“Instead of something that will deliver in 15 or 20 years, we do something that will deliver in five years, and then we do five years after that,” Richardson added, “and we sort of take smaller steps to arrive at the technology and capability curve and deliver with more confidence and on budget, on schedule.”

Two more Ford-class carriers are in the works. The John F. Kennedy “is well along in construction,” according to the Navy, and work has started on the USS Enterprise. The three Ford-class carriers will join 10 Nimitz-class carriers already in service.

“With all new technology there are risks,” Capt. Richard McCormack, the Ford’s commanding officer, said. “But that’s why we’re here – to go out there and shake them down.”

efyl-harvfht6668100.jpg

kBUA-harvfht6669401.gif

wzMf-harvfht6668167.jpg

Why is China expanding its air base 160 miles from Taiwan?

MELBOURNE, Australia — China is expanding an air base on the East China Sea coast, adding facilities that potentially allow it to permanently base combat aircraft closer to Taiwan and islands of which both China and Japan claim ownership.

Satellite photos taken in April show that the construction of new 24 aircraft shelters, taxiways and additional buildings are on the verge of being completed at the air base near the town of Xiapu, in China’s coastal Fujian Province.

The new aircraft shelters are built in a semi-dispersed state in six clusters of four, with two clusters built near the end of the single 1.7-mile-long runway and the rest located in one of two aircraft dispersal area which already has 15 of the 20 hardened and camouflaged aircraft shelters at the base. Each of the new shelters measures approximately 100 feet long and 60 feet wide, which is more than enough to accommodate China’s Sukhoi Su-30/35 and Shenyang J-11/15/16 Flanker family of fighter jets.

Several military buildings have also been built as part of the upgrading project, which also includes five new barracks blocks along with what retired Col. Vinayak Bhat, who previously served as a satellite imagery analyst with the Indian Army, told Defense News appear to be parking garages and testing and inspection facilities for vehicles. Land clearing is also taking place at the north eastern corner of the base complex, suggesting more facilities could yet be added.

The semi-dispersed nature of the new aircraft shelters is a departure from the normal practice at Chinese bases, whose shelters are normally built in straight lines with the housed aircraft parked side by side, and is likely to reflect the frontline nature of the air base.

The base is located just 160 miles from Taiwan’s capital Taipei and 225 miles from the Japanese-administered Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea, making it closer to the islands than the nearest Japanese combat aircraft which are based 260 miles away at Naha in Okinawa. China is also claiming ownership of the islands, which it calls the Diaoyu Islands.

The construction of the new aircraft shelters at the air base could point to China upgrading it to a fully-fledged operational air base with its own permanently assigned combat aircraft regiment or brigade. It had previously been used only as a deployment base since completion in 2012, hosting ongoing rotating detachments of approximately 12 People’s Liberation Army Air Force or PLAAF fighter jets.

These rotations, which satellite photos show almost always include the Sukhoi Su-30 multirole fighter or Chinese-built Shenyang J-11 interceptors, are believed to be increasingly utilised to accompany PLAAF bomber and intelligence-gathering aircraft flying out to the Western Pacific via international airspace over the Miyako Straits, with data released by the Japanese Ministry of Defense showing the fighters heading to and from the direction of Xiapu.

The fighters usually follow the bombers well past the Miyako Straits before turning back, which equates to a round trip of more than 1,000 miles from Xiapu.

PLAAF bombers have also been increasingly carrying out flights circumnavigating the island of Taiwan, which China views as a rogue province and has said it will take back by force if necessary. The latest reported mission on the 11th of May saw two groups of Xian H-6K bombers circumnavigate Taiwan simultaneously from both north and south of the island, with one group flying clockwise and the other going counter-clockwise.

According to the announcement by China’s Ministry of National Defense, Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets flew over the Bashi Channel south of Taiwan, which would make the first time the former has been known to be used on such missions. The flights prompted scrambles by both the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Taiwan’s Republic of China Air Force to intercept and observe the PLAAF bombers and intelligence gathering aircraft, which according to the Japanese MoD included a Tupolev Tu-154 and Shaanxi Y-8.
