I met with the Defence Chiefs of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) member-nations today, ahead of this year’s FPDA Defence Chiefs’ Conference.
For over 50 years, the FPDA has played a key role in promoting regional stability and defence cooperation among its five member-nations - Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
It will continue to adapt to contemporary challenges by enhancing conventional exercises and incorporating non-conventional elements, with a focus on high-end warfighting serials and introducing next-gen capabilities.
The newly-endorsed FPDA Exercise Concept Directive and five-year roadmap will guide our collective efforts.
I look forward to working closely with my counterparts to ensure that the FPDA remains relevant in an ever-changing security landscape.
