Chitchat Old Fart Reversed Out of Lift Without Looking! Fell Backwards And Killed Himself!

frankly too much lift mishaps.......... traceable to employment of far too many f trashes - cheap and good???

Alamak if it is just a sensor problem, then the town council really not doing proper maintenance to just repair or replace it after one to two years of residents complaints. How difficult it is to replace a sensor?

I am sure something can be done to prevent or if not, alert people of any abnormalities in the lift door opening or closing.

The HDB can install sensor to detect any misalignment of the lift door with the landing floor.

You can't blame the handicapped chap for reversing his wheelchair to get out of the lift. Even if he is facing the lift door, he could also have fallen face-down when the door opens.

The irony of having MPs managing town councils has truly backfired. In this case, the PAP MP Zainab Sapari, visited the victim in hospital, gave his contact details to the victims son, also sent 2 staff from town council to the hospital to assist the family etc. The MP is also explaining the lift maintenance programme and what has been done. What the hell is the general manger of the town council doing.

I do feel for the victim and his family but should we pay $16k t someone we elect to do stuff like this. Should they not be focusing on better policies and the overall improvement of citizens at both the local and national level.

Someone dies in an industrial accident, a road accident, drowning in a swimming pool etc, you don't see MPs and why should you.

We go down this path, nobody capable will want to stand for elections. And we end up with mediocre candidates.

That's what happens when mix up MP and estate manager jobs.

Yeah! I find it incredible that there r 2 other people in the lift and this still happens!! Everybody glued to their hp?

Sinkie syndrome - ingorant is a bliss to them. 70% voters know best and so do Bukit Batok 60% voters.

Most sinkies cannot bring themselves to vote for a loser like Desmond Lim.

This is not the first time that someone got wounded or killed by the lift. Remember the old lady who had to amputate her leg in order to get out of the jammed lift doors.

It is ridiculous to blame on the residents. The lift is supposed to be designed for passenger's safety, not the other way round.

Only an idiot would reverse without looking. He must have had brain damage even before the incident.

Brain damaged ? Very likely. Perhaps tis is one reason why PAP is the voters choice.
U can see many of these zombies around everywhere. Idiots who use HP , looking at the screen
when they are crossing the road , or driving , or walking in mall , on road pavement

tis is not the TC ,or MP fault.
you cannot help a stupid person no matter how hard you tried.
sooner or later the stupids would get into trouble
and they drag others along with them

. Expect more mishaps. Singapore is ageing and the elderly are vulnerable. One of the policies we expect our MPs to be examining is how to accommodate this group. Yes, we are already ending up with mediocre candidates. You are right, only so many hours in the day. Responsibility should rest on the right people.

They will tell you, responsibility lies with the USERS....they are not paid to think & plan, just provide in accordance what their master plan. The plan is to get the cheapest possible lifts, with the cheapest possible maintenance with the "meet the standard" building requirement & do the "necessary' safety checks by ticking off the "standard" forms....that is keeping with the protocol.....the lift does not align & you fall off..too bad!, your usage is sub-standard.....we have to educate you, you die...we will form a committee...to look into it , so sorry....this is what we get when we have entrust our lives to a single party, who over time become complacent....anyway what you voted for....you deserve to die that way.
