Batam: The death of a 71-year-old Singaporean man, identified as Lim Ah Ling, who was found dead inside a hotel room in Nagoya, Lubuk Baja District, Batam, is beginning to reveal new details after police discovered a large number of personal medications inside the room.
According to information gathered at the scene, officers found more than a dozen types of medicines and health supplements believed to belong to the victim. Several of the medications were still neatly stored in their original boxes, blister packs, and prescription bottles, complete with pharmacy labels and doctor’s instructions.
Among the items recovered were suspected cholesterol medication rosuvastatin, stomach medication omeprazole, calcium and vitamin D supplements, as well as several inhalers commonly used for respiratory conditions.
Police also discovered a number of medicines that had been repackaged into small plastic bags with dosage instructions attached by pharmacies, suggesting the victim had been undergoing regular medical treatment prior to his death.
The medications are now part of the ongoing police investigation as authorities attempt to determine the victim’s health condition before he died.
Earlier reports stated that hotel staff had tried to contact the victim on Thursday (May 21) regarding his stay extension. However, he failed to respond to phone calls and repeated knocks on his hotel room door.
Growing suspicious, hotel employees later entered the room together with witnesses, where they discovered the man lying motionless inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lubuk Baja Police Chief, Commissioner Deni Langie, confirmed the discovery of multiple medications in the victim’s room. However, he emphasized that the exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
“We did find several medications in the victim’s room. However, for the exact cause of death, we are still waiting for the medical examination results from the hospital,” said Commissioner Deni Langie.
Police are currently continuing their investigation by collecting statements from hotel staff and other witnesses who may have information regarding the victim’s final activities before his death.
So far, authorities stated that no signs of violence or physical injuries have been found on the victim’s body. Nevertheless, the exact cause of death remains pending further medical examination and an official autopsy report from the hospital.
