2. took higher malay (A2) in sec sch
3. took malay language & literature (A) in jc

By right, since javanese form majority, it should be javanese language as bahasa indonesia. But it is spoken only on java island, whereas, malay is spoken all over the archipelago.

The indons refuse to call themselves m&d or melayu. They rather call themselves javanese, acehnese, etc.

Majority of Indonesians are not Malays.
Sumatrans, kalimantan are majority malays.
Bugis, acehnese have their own language. But malay was spoken widely across the archipelago.
It was the british that gave the name Malaya or tanah melayu.
Before british came. It was under all sorts of name. Melaka, johor, pahang, kedah, ....
Sultanate of northern( medan) Sumatra was totally eliminated by a revolt in 1944 or something due to their close association with colonial dutch and chinese immigrants. Malays were butchered too.until recently, they did not use malay ( arabic?) names for fear of being savaged.
