Not only SGH, Tan Tock Seng Hospital also overwhelmed!

In my opinion, the only solution to affordable health care is to educate oneself. The pharmaceutical companies and conventional medical systems are only interested in your money. They aren't interested in actually healing you.

you are a very wise and enlightened forummer
yes, invest in your health right now...take good care of your own body
but some chronic diseases are genetically determined
some cancers might follow and you need to have hospital treatment

but again you have a choice to treat or to avoid any form of institutional treatment
some people chose NOT to be treated when they have terminal illnesses
some chose to empty all their savings with medical treatment and they and their families become paupers

so life is about making the right decision at the right time
medical cost will go up...up and up....soon it will be out of reach for the ordinary folks..

but of course , we have a kind, compassionate and benevolent government
the poor, the needy and the disabled will be taken care of with generous subsidies and cash

How about just treating people with income of $100k? Those who earn less than that are not worth helping, let them die. That's the PAP way.

not a good idea lah bro winni
health is for all
if you can wait, wait
if you cannot wait, go to private hospitals and pay the exorbitant fee
if you are brave enough to self medicate, it is still okay

if you have signed the AMD, it will spare your care givers all the headache
have the courage to pass on

and have the passion and the fire to enjoy life to the fullest when we are healthy....cheers!!!

many of these new citizens work in ministries and stat boards and many have some entitlements to see government specialists
so they will make use of these benefits and compete with singaporeans for the services of the hospital specialists
some have to wait for months....depending on the severity of the condition.....some just give up and see private specialists who will charge a bomb

so what is the solution? more hospitals and more specialists? cut down on immigration and new citizens???

invest in your own health. have enough savings and insurance to see private doctors? hard times indeed....

It was sarcasm on my part. I was merely extending Sam Leong's proposition.

Excuse me sir.

They had already increase the charges like for the PRIVATE CLASS patient. And for those in this class, they are given top notch treatment and service.

It was only out of compassion that the hospital are still serving riff raff like the thread starter, that the hospital only charges these riff raff a noiminal fee for their treatment.

And for that, these riff raffs CANNOT COMPLAIN!

If these riff raff still are not appreciative for what they are receiving, the hospital.should let them rot in the street.

The rich no need to pay for hospital charges, it is all paid for by the insurance that they have bought. smart people buy insurance and it seems like rich people are smart people.

....how do you know it was an abuse. Perhaps the case was more complex ...it involved examination and investigation?

If waiting time is long, they should address it by adding more specialists. It is obviously a case demand exceeding supply. This is the problem with a two-tier health care system ...doctors leave public sector to work in the more lucrative private sector after having gather experience on the taxpayer's dime.
I was the next in the queue. I know the doctor well. He told me how some patients (so called more educated ones) will keep asking questions that only god can answer. If it is first visit, then it's fine that more time is needed. Unfortunately, it is only a follow-up check up. I spent less than 15 min with the doctor with more time spent listening to him letting out his frustration on those unreasonable time wasting patients.

Some of these "educated" patients give doctors hell.

Thank you. Got it.
But it will come a time when only the RICH and WEALTHY can afford.
You can see some of the signs and indicators already. Money speaks.
