Go suck something else for a change...during my parents time, before the ascension of the opposition PAP to become a government, there were already community self help. I recall, the clan association, with the sub group of people from the same village, help themselves; from welfare, hospital visits, home visits, education in some measure, even the very poor & those without any relatives, placement of these people to homes & even when they die, pay & arrange for a funeral with group of ladies in blue sam foo , the funeral cryers...

so what so great, about the Pap in charge?

Thanks to the PAP, needy people can learn self reliance! You see, if you ignore a problem long enough, it will go away. Such is the PAP way.

Or you can just reframe the narrative and insist that it's not a problem, but rather a 'character-building' experience from which you can 'learn valuable lessons'. ;)
