Punggol By election on 26 jan 13 will go down to the history book as the last by election
there will be no by by election in the future

Until 2016, I agree. Beyond that would depend on the outcome of the next GE.

And to think I was looking forward to a Bukit Panjang BE later this year...

Why Bukit Panjang? Teo Ho Pin got an upcoming scandal coming up? :D:D

losing a single seat is never an issue. always remember, the only single most important factor is loss of face. tat is not tolerable for them.

What about Tanjong Pagar GRC?

What are the odds of the old man kicking the bucket before 2016?

He will be 91 years old if he is still alive by then (!!)

Will he be the oldest MP in the world if he contests the 2016 general election??

By-election is good for the ruling party to test on sentiment. It is better to lose 1 seat than many seats at one go.

Our PM had made public apologies many times. For a politician, losing face has never been an issue. Try asking Desmond Lim BC.

By elections don't need to be called for GRCs unless ALL the GRC members go MIA.

As things stand, even then, the PM need not call by-elections. But the Supreme Court has instructed lawyers in the Hougang by-election case to research into whether the PM has absolute discretion as to whether or not to call a by-election.

Stay tuned.

The Constitution says no BE for GRC unless all the MPs dropped dead.

Agree. Loss of one seat cannot severely impact on them in parliament. It is the bo bin chu that hurts them. The whole world knows!
