According to Vivian Balakrishnan it is "safely presumed" that heavy flood will stay in Singapore. As such, any bros here want to open a BOAT SHOP? I "safely presumed" in future car may not be as effective as boat when there is intense storm. It is time every household have at least one small boat for the family. What you guys think about such idea? Besides, boat will keep your family member safe as we know PUB did not bother to instal railing along those Logan because of cost until some accident occurred. We cannot rely on PAP to help the people, it is time we see some boat shops opened around orchard and Bukit Timah area.

Maybe like the examples here, imagine having a car that transforms into a boat. The licensing part may be an issue as i remembered they took 3-4 years just to approve those Duck boats license?

Hey bro drifter,

Talking about real stuff, not balloons that look like cars.
Here is a real flying car albeit one that requires some work before flying.

One of them that i like is called the Humdinga(Gibbs Technologies):
http://editorial.autos.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=434464

The Humdinga was designed for military use, offering four-wheel drive as well as the ability to move at 40 mph on the water.

Equally versatile on land and water, the Humdinga can carry five passengers at up to 100 mph on land.

http://www.gibbstech.com/humdinga.php

Although the new application utilizes the same patented HSA technological platform as the Aquada, it shares no common component parts or systems with its predecessor. It has been designed specifically to access remote and hostile terrain. The Humdinga can comfortably transport five people complete with luggage/supplies on at least twice as much of the world’s surface as previous vehicles.

The Humdinga illustrates the scalability and versatility of HSA technology. HSA Technology can make vehicles ranging from passenger cars to SUVs to buses and trucks High Speed Amphibians.

The Humdinga transforms from land to water mode at a touch of a button. The wheels retract, the power train switches from the wheels to a jet propulsion system and the vehicle is in amphibious mode. In just a few seconds the driver is planing at a speed of forty miles per hour.

"This 4WD HSA demonstrates that the technology is adaptable for a whole range of applications. It took us 8 years, a million man-hours and tens of millions of pounds to develop HSA technology. With this latest vehicle, I'm sure that the technology's potential is clear for all to see.", comments Alan Gibbs, founder of Gibbs Technologies.

On land the Humdinga can accelerate from 0-60 in 9.2 seconds and on water can reach the 'plane' in less than 10 seconds. It has a curb weight of 2000kg, has all wheel independent air suspension and runs on regular unleaded petrol. The vehicle is 5400mm in length, 1850mm in height and 2000mm in width.

Oh just sharing what i always wanted to get but we will likely never be able to get licenses in SG for any of these before the world ends.
These are still on the way to market but we should see quite a few of them available and flying in the US in 2012. A colleague of mine
told me he is setting aside money for another car and getting this instead, he is likely to get one(based in US)

More on the "Transition" by Terrafugia:

The Transition® Every pilot faces uncertain weather, rising costs, and ground transportation hassles on each end of the flight. The Transition® combines the unique convenience of being able to fold its wings with the ability to drive on any surface road in a modern personal airplane platform. Stowing the wings for road use and deploying them for flight at the airport is activated from inside the cockpit. This unique functionality addresses head-on the issues faced by today’s Private and Sport Pilots.

Terrafugia’s award-winning MIT-trained engineers have been advancing the state-of-the-art in personal aircraft since 2006. Now you can streamline your flying experience with the revolutionary integration of personal land and air travel made possible by the Transition® Roadable Aircraft.

Bro , if PAP refuse to solve the flood problem .. There's a high chance we will get that kind of autocraft in Singapore ;) but the COE price will not come cheap ;)
