- Iran's attacks continue to gridlock shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said the U.S. Navy could start escorting tankers through the strategic waterway as oil prices remain over $100 per barrel. President Trump said Saturday that other countries would join the U.S. in sending warships to the strait, but did not share more specifics.
- Mr. Trump announced Friday that the U.S. had bombed Kharg Island, a vital oil hub that serves as Iran's main oil export terminal. U.S. Central Command said Saturday morning that the U.S. had struck 90 military targets on the island, but preserved its oil infrastructure.
