Need to go into JB - where in S'pore to take M'sia taxi? Please help.

I need to get into JB to buy some hardware. I don't drive. I need to grab a Malaysian taxi on Singapore side to get into Jalan Riang 21, Taman Mulia, Tampoi, Johor Bahru then have the taxi drive me back. This is not too far into JB as I can see the map next to F&N factory.

- Where in Woodlands or anywhere in Singapore can I get a cap to bring me directly to the shop?

- What sort of price are we talking about?

You need go to Rochor.
But he cabs go to the taxi terminal in JB....but if you ask the drivers (of those JB cabs only)...they COULD take you all the way to your destination, if not you need to change cabs in JB.

imho you are better off taking a pirate cab per trip one way should not exceed SGD$50.

All Singapore Taxis are not allowed to cross the border to Malaysia and vice verse.

Only specially licensed Singapore Taxis are allowed to enter Johor, Malaysia and stop at Kotaraya Shopping Mall (near the Malaysian Customs). You will need to change to a Malaysian Taxi cab upon arriving at Kotaraya Shopping Mall.

Specially licensed Malaysian Taxis are allowed to travel any where else in Malaysia, without the need to change taxi cabs. These taxis are operated by Johor Taxi Service.


Malaysia to Singapore by Taxi

In the reverse direction towards Singapore, you can take taxis from Kotaraya Shopping Mall (near the Malaysian Customs) to any point in central Singapore ($30) or Changi Airport ($40). The main advantage here is that you don't need to lug your stuff (or yourself) through Customs at both ends; you can just sit in the car.

Travel in comfort from point A to B, without having to change vehicle (on Malaysian Taxis) and get down at the customs
Great for traveling with young children or old age.
No need to carry your heavy bags

You might be stuck in the traffic jam at peak hours (unless you travel by rail or plane)
Cost a little more as compared to Public Bus or Walking

Pirate cabs will hover around the Ban San taxi stand area but these will cut throat not to mention unsafe as well.
On the opposite side, most of these drivers will gather around certain areas like Holiday plaza, merlin, Larkin etc...
let me see if i can dig out some of these drivers contacts.

JB cabs in Ban San taxi stand (behind our lady of lourdes church) are yellow in color....top up $10 they will be willing to send you to anyplace in JB.

Agree, take a bus or train from woodlands to JB. Then grab a pirate taxi from there to your destination in JB and back to Singapore.

Brother, if you are staying in Woodlands at the moment, just cross the custom. After clearing immigration, walk towards city square (just follow the human traffic). Along the way, you will notice a taxi stand with alot of taxi. Just take the taxi from there. Nowadays, the taxi at that taxi booth goes on "sector" policy. Meaning, you pay according to the zone that you want to go. This ensures that you are not being chopped.

If you are going from Bugis, then as alot of brother says, go to Queen St near Rocher. Cheers

U can catch the bus at Woodlands bus interchange. Or you can take a train to Kranji MRT(2 stops away from Woodlands). Go out of the station and there are some buses going there.

EDITED: Woodland bus interchange has about 4-5 buses going to the custom but only 1-2 goes the express way. The other 3 goes round and round the neighbourhood first. So make sure u ask the bus drivers at the control station.

I prefer to take from Kranji mrt. Bus 170, bus CW...they take you below the Singapore immigration whereby you walk a shorter distance.

I assume your hardware must be rather heavy.Thus wanting to charter taxi to and fro JB.If taxi is what you want than go Queen Street taxi stand.Dont que.Go behind.Many taxis awaiting their turn.Find a Malaysian registered taxi.Bargain rates for to and fro.Singapore registered taxi will not do such charter.

Alternatively if the hardware is easy to carry .Take MRT.Get down at Kranji station.Take bus reaches JB in 10 mins.The moment you clear CIQ take taxi,think to tampoi about 12 ringgit.All metered.Than take taxi back to CIQ JB...repeat procedure.

If you are afraid taxi in JB cheats you.I can give Tel no.of Chinese run taxi company.Only 2 ringgit more for call service.Pick you from CIQ and return to CIQ JB.Good luck.
