Cheng Bock was only popular because everywhere he went, grassroots leaders paved the way for him. If not for us, he would be nothing!! He learnt that first hand when he went up against a real political challenger for the first time in his entire political history. And Cheng Bock lost. Without the grassroots, union, media and PAP support behind him, Tan Cheng Bock would have fared as well as a Goh Meng Seng or Sin Kek Thong or Slipper Man, all of whom are losers!
