North Korea declares 'a state of war' with South

From the South China Morning Post

North Korea said on Saturday it had formally entered a “state of war” with South Korea and warned that any provocation would swiftly escalate into a nuclear conflict.

“As of now, inter-Korea relations enter a state of war and all matters between the two Koreas will be handled according to wartime protocol,” the North said in a statement attributed to all government bodies and institutions.

It is the latest in a string of dire threats from Pyongyang that have been matched by tough warnings from South Korea and the United States, fuelling international concerns that the situation is spiralling out of control.

“The long-standing situation of the Korean peninsula being neither at peace nor at war is finally over,” said the statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Not easy for war to commence. A third party usually steps in to diffuse the situation if it escalates.

lianbeng wonders is the demarcation point 38 still there? :rolleyes: u cannot find that line on the map of Korean Peninsula lah but hor in parliament house that long table is positioned exactly where the demarcation is and everytime the North tries to push their limits off the 38th point! look at the world map and find that point 38 where the longitude intersects the latitude!
 
Someone should go to Joo Chiat and have a good talk with the North Korean Ambassador..

He's staying in a 3 storey detached house there..
