My resting heartbeat shot go from 58 to 67 yesterday

My neighbour told me that many Taiwanese take medication (not supplement) to prevent high blood pressure even though they don’t have high blood pressure

They take medication to prevent high blood pressure

Is that true ?

Yes, but blood pressure medications need doctor's prescription (and no doctor will prescribe it to you for prevention alone, only for treatment), whereas blood pressure supplements (which don't need prescriptions) are not as effective as medications.

So if your blood pressure is normal (for elderly, 130+ is normal, no need 120+), supplements are enough. If your blood pressure is too high (ie. above 140), will need prescription meds (I can advise on the best blood pressure meds to take).

There are many supplements that help to maintain normal blood pressure or prevent high blood pressure. Too many for me to name, magnesium is one of them, medically proven. If you have a particular supplement in mind, specify it (or better stil, link it, eg. on iherb.com) and I can give my comments on it (if any).

Everyone should have at least 1 blood pressure monitor at home and take your daily reading. You can buy cheaply on Shopee. I have 3 monitors, and take blood pressure readings over 10 times a day, using the median (not mean) value of the 3 monitors for accuracy and reliability.

i used to having a resting heartrate of 42 when i was a teenager/student. i can do a 40 min 10k run at that time. i used to take part a lot of these 10k runs.

If your resting heartbeat is consistently over 90, you may want to ask your doctor to prescribe a beta blocker to safeguard your long term heart health (chronically elevated heartbeats tire out the heart).

The best beta blocker is Nebivolol, which polyclinic doctors do not prescribe, you will need to get it from a cardiologist at a hospital.
Taking big pharma med to "cure" the condition?

how about a lifestyle and diet change, wouldn't this be better? of course you need discipline to do this.

Exercise and diet are the best

However when u reach certain age, exercise and diet may not be helpful and you may need to take some medication

That measures heart rate only, not blood pressure. But it's ok, blood pressure naturally rises high during vigorous exercise.

It's resting blood pressure and heart rate that everyone needs to measure and be careful about.

I hope in future people can develop wearable bp measuring device.

A lot of sheeple are still suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. They still think those evil corporations are there to serve the sheeple lol

Already exists (it's 1 of the 3 blood pressure monitors I use 10x per day), the wrist blood pressure watch (the watch cuff is the blood pressure cuff), but like normal arm cuff blood pressure monitors, you need to stay completely still (ie. not exercising) while taking blood pressure.

Not just because shaking will affect accuracy, but also because all blood pressure monitors are supposed to measure RESTING blood pressure. Everyone's blood pressure will be high when exercising, it's resting blood pressure that determines your cardiovascular health, and determines your risk of strokes, heart attacks, aortic dissection and kidney disease.

The wrist blood pressure watch already comes with built-in USB rechargeable batteries. All my blood pressure monitors use ac connection or built-in USB rechargeable batteries.

I have Omron made in Japan bp measuring device and it uses aaa batteries

All Omron (I also have, it's 1 of my 3 monitors I use every day) blood pressure monitors have an ac adaptor port, you just have to buy the correct ac adaptor for your specific Omron model. Omron has hundreds of different models, so I can't help you (my Omron and your Omron may use different ac adaptors), you need to search online yourself to find ac adaptor that works for your own Omron. Try Shopee and Lazada, if both don't have then try Amazon. If all 3 also don't have then bo pian, you have to resort to trial and error, keep buying different ac adaptors until you find 1 that works for your Omron.
