Cruising is not for everyone.. As for me ,I like the idea of doing nothing at sea. I quite enjoy all the ship activities even though they are all cater to angmo.

I guess just relax. Eat. Walk around breathe morning sea breeze. Look at horizon. Sunrise.

Then eat lunch. Nap in afternoon. Wake up for dinner.

Take a slow easy one. Watch a movie. Play some at casino.

Bingo?

Go gym.

Maybe now as a older man I can see why it is relaxing.

When young very restless and bored. Not to mention cannot go casino.

Is there all kinds of entertainment, like movies, theater, musical, live bands, all the food and drinks, at any time?

What are the activities nowadays on a cruise ship?

Arcade games?
Casino?
Movie theatres?
Swimming pool?
Gym?
Any water park with slides?
Roller coaster and amusement rides?
Go kart?
Indoor playground for kids?
Restaurants?
Golf driving area VR?
I don't really need any of the above activities. For me, I enjoyed all the live performances especially songs from 60 to 80.. other than that, I read a lot of stuff while lounging on my balcony. I am quite a boring person.

Actually when I look at it now. I might enjoy cruise too. But most of it pertains to not having to work and not having to have anything I "need" to do.

Just relax. I can do it at home too I guess. Haha.

Live performances are nice too I only appreciate as I get older.

I paid usd3500 (include taxes and gratuities) for 2 persons on a 13 days cruise.

Wow. That's a pretty good deal! About $135 per pax per day.

The meals alone cost half that. And the room fees.

I am guessing the live performances are included?

Any extra expenses required on board?

actually if you think about it. Can retire on cruise isn;t it?

If go on longer cruise does the per day cost go lower?

Let's say $120 per per person per day. For a retired couple thats $250 a day.

$7500 a month. All meals included. Utilities. Internet. No rent. No property tax. No need for vehicle.

$90,000 a year. Not bad. Probably even lower?

Yes .. I calculate I need 90 to 100k per year to retire in the cruise ship. However, I am more likely to retire in Malaysia or Thailand

In my last few cruise, there are some Taiwanese and hongkies who play mahjong everyday.. They can't even be bothered with any ship activities

Actually that's a good idea. Get more bang for buck! And cruise wise is pretty much the same and key is the age of the ship and facilities.

Hmm idea for me to retire......if I ever get to it.

repositioning cruise usually has good deals as they need passengers to help train staff and keep skills tip top, especially for performers. and it’s a lot more relax too without the full crowd. i once cruised from sf to vancouver for only $169 a day inclusive of tips, gratuities, wine, beverage, etc. and it was like staying and dining in a 6.9-star hotel except that the hotel moved along with you from port to port, including carrying along your luggages.
