My friend kana heart attack- stressed out in stressful Sinkapore

Indeed to a certain extent, stress and mental problems have caused some seemingly fit, young guys in the primer of their lives to just drop dead.. more stories of young nsf guys die of heart attack or apparently for no reasons.. scary..

Stress is definitely an important factor for the older people as it has the effect of raising the systolic blood level. As general blood pressure levels increase as one ages, systolic levels can be pushed to extremely high levels and can be very dangerous.

There are two types of stress. Stress from working hard and worrying. Of the two, worry induced stress is especially dangerous. In a crowded and highly competitive society like Singapore, this form of stress is particularly common.

A friend of mine had a heart attack last month. He used to be a jovial fellow with a happy go lucky attitude. Lately we noticed a change in him, instead of his cheerful self, he seems depressed, looks terrible like he's really stressed. When I talked to him he apologized that he has been cutting back on our kaki drink sessions as finances is tight. His car is old but he cannot afford to change. So he tries to cut back by taking more public transport. He has to leave his house 45 mins earlier and fight with the crowd to work. Same coming back. Worse he works in the manufacturing sector which is doing badly. No increment for him this year and with roaring inflation, he has to cut back even more. All these has taken a toll on him and I am not surprised he kanna heart attack. Just wondering what is the national rate for high blood pressure and heart attacks. It got to be high living in this high pressure cauldron!

I believe he should have sold the car if finances are tight. Overall manufacturing is very soft even for the next few quarter. Nevertheless, if you friend is the sole breadwinner , I can understand the anxiety. RIP.
