VIP shot nine times in Penang drive-by, in critical condition

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A man believed to be a 'very important person' (VIP) was shot nine times while in a moving vehicle near Taman Sentosa, Jalan Kulim here this morning.
The victim, who is yet to be identified, survived the 11.45am shooting but was badly injured.
He was assisted by members of the public at the scene before being rushed to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital.

A witness who declined to be identified said that he heard a loud explosive noise, which he initially thought was from firecrackers.
He then saw a black Honda Accord with heavily-tinted windows crash into a road divider.

When contacted, Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said that he was on his way to the crime scene to get updates on the investigation.
