I don't understand why those employment agency kept increasing the maid salary & like what "Nation Employment Group Director" simply said " They are requesting us to match what is being paid to domestic helpers in Hongkong which is $650 and what is being in Taiwan which is $800; but do they realized that we (Singapore employers) are actually paid almost the same as the figure in Hongkong?
Maid salary S$380 + S$265 (the levy) = S$645/mth!!
In Hongkong & Taiwan , there is no levy being imposed to the employers to have the domestic worker.
Furthermore....in Hongkong , some of the maid need to pay their own lodging , toiletries etc... while in Singapore employers obliged to bear those cost for the maid including their medical etc..anything goes wrong; let say they pregnant or run away ..employer is the one need to take the responsibility!
Its so unfair to the employers. The salary demanded to be increase & increase but the quality of the maid never been better, so many cases I heard that employers had so much problem with maids.
Also...the most benefit here is the maid agency + government , why they must deduct the maid salary so much & why government need to impose the levy ?? By right the levy can pass on to the maid which is better instead of put on further cost to the employers. This is also 1 of the reason why the fertility rate so low...as its consider another "cost" which is so high for those family with children.
With this new salary of S$450 , total up employers need to fork out S$450+ S$265 = S$715 exclude the FDW lodging , medical , foods , toiletries etc...etc...which can end up to S$1000 ; is it fair for employers to fork out so much for non skilled worker ??
