Hi guys,
Greetings to all SG-eans in AU now!
I'm new to this forum. I've gotten my AU PR in Aug 2008, and I'm now looking to get an IT job (in the SAP area, specifically) and be advanced party for the family soon.
Ya, I'm leaving the wife and kids first in Singapore, because I can't bear to take the kids away from my old mum for now. I know, there would come a time that they will have to move eventually, but seriously, after thinking through for months, I thought this was the best scenarios. I have the support of my wife, though, so at least, it looks OK for now.
I have countless questions in my mind with regards to AU, but the one that came to my mind when I was reading through a few recent threads was the NS thing. I saw one thread in which this guy had to go back SG to celebrate his MIL's birthday and as a result, the two elders are now liable to NS. My question is, is there some sort of "cut-off age" after which a SG-born male will be considered liable for NS if he doesn't renounce his citizenship? Is it true that if my son gives up SG citizenship, he can't return to SG forever?
I'm glad I made the choice to get PR for the family, and I'm even more glad to find this forum.
Just by reading some of the threads for less than 2 days, I've found treasures of information by the experience shared by many fellow SG-eans. I'll definitely be reading more in days to come to find more treasures.
Lastly, does anyone know of any SAP job opening in your company/area??? (I' a responsible and hardworking guy, BTW)
I've asked my PRC-born Melbourne friend to send my CVs to his contacts, and so far, I've got a couple of calls, but not much else for now. :(
Anyway, thanks for reading and hope to be in AU soon!
cheers!
