I was forced out of my job as an untrained teacher recently due to the new policy initiated by our Education Minister Heng Swee Keat to employ only grads and undergrads to take over relief teaching.

=> Excuse to open up vacancies to foreigners? Like in the case of one SG grad being rejected while India Indian being hired for teaching position?

I have been a relief teacher for over ten years and in my 50s. Now I ended up working in 7-11 at $5 per hour!
How low can you go? I can’t retire yet as financially our family is not comfortable.

Anyway, I am also writing in to ask if anyone knows the quota of foreigners/PRs in a company. It seems like my daughter’s company employs a lot of foreigners.

She is an engineer but almost all her colleagues are from other countries like Indonesia, China, India. Even the director and vice president are Malaysians.

My daughter was recommended for a promotion by her Singaporean manager but he could not provoke his superior VP who intends to promote an Indonesian Chinese who is more junior than my daughter!

Is there anything I can do to inform the authority concerning this?

Since the PAP told us to inform them if there is any unfair treatment going on in a company, we should act and see if they really practise what they preach! Which government body should I report this to?

20 years ago, it not lawful to hire more than 20% foreigners in a workplace to protect the locals. ST and temesak starts to break this ruling by hiring more than 50% and it slowly spread to the semi conducting companies and manufacturing companies. So that rule no longer exist now as there are many ways to bend it now.

Why did she remain untrained? I'm sure they must have been some opportunities to upgrade herself at some point in time.
As for the daughter, i sympathize with her case.

The worst thing is, she is a pro-pap. She didnt see that it is the PAP policies that caused her to be in this state and even wants to "Inform the authorities about it". I want to say, will the authorities care for peasants like her lol?

Nothing new....... treason is practised often in Singapore Polytechnic with termination of Singaporeans & whose jobs were subsequently filled by FTs who still need to be sponsored degree course so as to be qualified for the jobs....... how generous can that be? What blatant anti Singapore HR practise is that?????????? No wonder Singaporeans are angry with PAP! Can wait till 2016 to kick them out!

Dun be dumb. Most of the companies in Singapore are overseas companies, if you dun give them work permits to bring their own local employees and hire cheap FTs to Singapore, why would they even bother to set up shop here? U would even lose the corporate tax revenues, and the local jobs generated here.

These companies generate revenue regionally, but spend locally, Singapore definately benefit from this strategy.

Many Singaporeans just see until eye red red and kao pei kao bu. But they never bother to think on both sides of the coin, even if things change, they will never get to enjoy the benefits.
