As usual, defending the paper losses as temporary and the investments will bounce back in the LONG TERM.....

Why invest in the first place, MM? Temasek was created to run the companies or stat boards that were involved in natural monopolies in the supplying of utilities, public transportation, among others- not to invest in overseas companies which fundamentals were in severe doubt.

Whatever are your excuses, Mr. Lee, I have to dismiss these. Temasek's role should be restricted to the domestic market, to ensure these services are maintained in industries where only the government has the ability to deliver, and where the private sector can't because its not realistic.

Let us ensure that it remains in that role, and not in others, and to make sure these toxic assets are get rid of in the future, when things are looking brighter. We cannot and should not politicise business decisions for personal self-interest.

"Long term" is a great excuse for bad judgement and huge losses.

"Long term" cannot be challenged because it's in the future, non of us can say he's either right or wrong

But "Track Record" cannot lie, just look at Ho's track record and we can predict how this "Long Term" investment will end up.
