[h=2]Minor Sex scandal: ‘Big fishes’ in the last batch of men to be charged?[/h]
The online vice syndicate scandal has stirred a storm in Singapore with 48 men being charged for having sex with an underage prostitute who was 17 years old at the time of the offence.

Among the 48 men are 9 civil servants, a senior banker, a company director, a senior vice-president of a private company, lawyers, a senior police officer, the former principal of Pei Chun Public School Lee Lip Hong and prominent grassroots leader and high-ranking MOE official Chua Ren Cheng. Their ages range from between 21 to 48 years old.

Lee Lip Hong has pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to nine months of imprisonment.

The media reported that over 80 men has been implicated so far with the underage prostitute, but for some strange reasons, only 14 men will be charged in the last and final batch leading to some speculations if some are ‘let off’ because they are too ‘big’ to be prosecuted.

One porn site based overseas claimed that some very prominent men might be charged next:

“… the big rumor in Singapore now is that the men charged so far were the minnows (small fishes) and that the big fishes even a whale or two will be charged at the end. Every new batch of men brought to court will be made up of more and more very prominent individual with millions of dollars in their war chest. Yes, the current storm coming might be that very prominent man in Singapore and very senior officers may have used the services of the underage prostitute.”

It added that the prosecutors are now proceeding very carefully because of the involvement of powerful figures in the last batch:

“It is speculated these high ranking and elites are involved so prosecutors are being very careful preparing to go up against these people so they are dotting every” i” and crossing every “t” because a few big whales might be in the last batch. Also rumors are that part of the second batch that were brought to court and charged are already pushing back hard. And some conspiracy about an epic battle between Howard Shaw family vs. the government and the courts.”

For the sake of transparency, the prosecution should reveal the names of all the 80 plus men who allegedly had sex with the underage prostitute and explain to the public why not all are being charged for the same offence.

In other western countries, all those in the list being investigated would need to be revealed for transparency sake? Just like the UK murdoff phone tapping case, all the police officers and reporters being investigated had to be revealed to the public so that people know there is no cover up. So why is the police keeping this secret? In the case of the 2 top home affair officers of IT salegirl sex scandal apparently they kept it under wrap until wanbao exposed it. Now, since top officers are involved in this minor sex scandal too, doesn't the public has the right to know too to be sure there is no cover up?

Hopefully, now that they are down this road, all involved should be charged. It should be fair and transparent. A big fish should not get special treatment.

Undeniable fact is that these men had sex with a prostitute. However whether it is sex with underage girl - that is to be decided in court. Just that it must be fair to all.

Should not be such a thing as too big to be charged.
