Minimum wage is a policy that represents a triumph of workers over collective business interests. The impact on an economy of low profit businesses (aka SMEs) is not known but can be studied. Intuition tells me it cannot be enacted immediately without collateral damage to the economy.
Minimum wage is a disaster for small businesses. You may know a Chinese towkay or two, just imagine their constipated look when you talk about minimum wages. When profits fall and some businesses fall into the red, rents will eventually ease but certainly not immediately. And of course, some people (property owners and failed businessmen) will not be pleased.
Fix immigration at the lowest levels, and perhaps also for white collar workers. Purge the interlopers with the appropriate policy tools if necessary. PAP caused the problem, so they shouldn't feel shy about reversing these lousy policies. I would support these actions despite how two wrongs don't make a right.
P.S. Immigrants are people too. PAP policies will affect them when they are asked to leave, but ultimately you shouldn't hate them for taking away your jobs because unregulated capitalism is vulgar and unfeeling. It is the business community who saw an opportunity and jumped in for fear of losing out. The root of all evil is bad policy and a naive belief in fairy tales like trickle down economics promised by the cult of free markets.
Those among you who spread falsehood and hate against FTs will only let them claim all of you are lazy bullshitters, which some of you are online and IRL.
