To the old-timers:
You vote the PAP for familiarity and for fear of the unknown.
If you like familiarity and the status quo, you will not get from the PAP. More old places will be torn down. More communal and free spaces will be transformed into private condo spaces or golf courses. You will see old estates replaced by shopping malls. You will see over-the-counter services totally replaced by e-services. Foreign languages will replace familiar dialects. Your favourite hawker stalls replaced by food-courts operated by PRCs. The PAP will continue to transform the landscape until you feel you're in a foreign land.
To the new citizens:
You vote PAP because you are thankful for all the benefits you have received. You have invested heavily in a HDB flat and hope that value will continue to climb and climb.
But now that you're a citizen, the gravy train stops. Slowly, you will realise that your CPF is money down the toilet. You will not see it ever again.
Your children will be discriminated against at work because they have to serve NS and reservist.
I hope for their sake, that they can work better, faster, cheaper then workers in India and China.
To the civil servants:
you vote PAP because you're afraid. You are afraid of uncertainty, afraid of reprisal, afraid of the big bad world out there.
Guess what? The PAP has brought the big bad world to you and expect you to work harder, run faster just to stay in the same spot. Your minister will take credit for your hardwork and you will continue to get the blame.
To the Malay community:
Some of you vote PAP because they claim that the opposition will not champion your cause, that they will play the race card. But they never tell you that much of the problems of the malay community is the result of the elitist system that the PAP has built. The rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. They have never trusted you, why do you trust them?
