New underwear gives me a bigger bulge
More than 40,00 sell in ten days
"Men want more padding, more lift"
IT has long been OK for women to pump up their credentials with a padded bra and now guys are cheating too with bulge-boosting underwear.
Australian underwear manufacturer AussieBum launched Wonderjock Pro duds this month to make men look bigger in the nether region and it seems that there are plenty of insecure blokes out there.
Since its debut this month, AussieBum says it has sold 40,000 pairs of the jocks around the globe in just ten days, with 6000 walking off shop shelves in Australia.
AussieBum spokesman John Scott said the fashion label began selling padded underwear for men four years ago and in response to overwhelming demand for "more padding, more lift" its latest offering is the equivalent of the “Wonderbra”.
“It began with customers asking us to produce underwear that would give them support and enhance their looks,” Mr Scott said.
He says the Wonderjock Pro uses support technology to help protrude blokes' private bits out in front instead of looking downcast at the ground.
And just like the Wonderbra, the cockatoo smuggler briefs promise to make its wearer "look bigger and feel amazing with a package to be proud of".
While the latest line looks more at home in an adults shop, Mr Scott says the Wonderjock Pro has broad appeal and sits alongside conservative Calvin Klein and Pierre Cardin underwear in high-brow department stores including Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.
The new range also sells online - a godsend for men who don't want to be spotted buying jocks to enhance their natural assets.
"The images may give the impression that the underwear appeals to a gay market but we have a very mainstream audience, he said.
Even the ladies are getting into the trend and it seems they can't blame their blokes for false advertising with 30 per cent of Aussie Pro jocks being snapped up by women.
"They're buying the underwear as gifts for their men to give them a sexier look and feel more confident."
And while jocks and socks in packs of three have always been a safe Christmas present for dad, it goes without saying that not everyone will appreciate this type of fashion technology.
