PM Lee Hsien Loong is second most admired man in Singapore: YouGov study

SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is the second most admired man in Singapore, according to YouGov’s annual study of which public figures people look up to.
PM Lee is the only Singaporean man to feature among this year’s top 10, but has moved up four spots from last year, with 8.67 per cent of the vote.
For the third year in a row, former United States president Barack Obama topped the list as the city-state’s most admired man, with 12.69 per cent of the votes.
He is followed by Lee and actor Keanu Reeves in third.

The rest of the top 10 comprises entrepreneurs and celebrities, such as Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates (fifth), actor Jackie Chan (sixth) and Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo (ninth).
The women's list was topped by former US First Lady Michelle Obama, followed by British monarch Queen Elizabeth II and Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Others on the list include New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (fourth), actress and humanitarian Angelia Jolie (fifth) and singer Taylor Swift (ninth).
Singapore President Halimah Yacob, who made her debut on on the list last year in seventh place, has dropped out in this edition.
Globally, the Obamas topped both lists again, with Michelle on top for the third year running. The top three spots for each sex are also unchanged since last year, with Gates remaining second among men, followed by China leader Xi Jinping. Jolie continues to be the world’s second-most admired woman, ahead of third placed Queen Elizabeth II.

YouGov is an international research data and analytics group based in London. Earlier this year, it gathered open-ended nominations from panellists across 38 countries and territories, asking them, “Thinking about people alive in the world today, which [man or woman] do you most admire?”
It then compiled a list of the 20 men and 20 women who received the most nominations and were nominated in at least four countries. An additional five to 10 popular local figures were added to the lists for individual countries.
