OYK honours nurses. 
We are now in the midst of another Omicron wave. This is the first time we are going through a wave without much SMMs – no circuit breaker, no heightened alert, no group size limit, no capacity limit.
The weight is mostly on our healthcare system and its workers – our nurses, our doctors, our medical personnel, to manage and care for the patients who need hospitalisation.
They are working flat out as we weather through this wave. They are the backbone of our healthcare system. Without them, our system cannot stand.
We honoured 125 outstanding nurses at the Nurses’ Merit Award for their exceptional performance today.
To all our nurses, doctors and all medical personnel, thank you for going above and beyond your call of duty.

Today, we launched Project CADENCE (CAncer Detected Early caN be CurEd) with MiRXES, a local biotech start-up with a breakthrough technology.
Using microRNA technology, it can detect onset of nine cancers through a single blood test.
It is a revolutionary development that can potentially alter the preventive care landscape. Especially in our population which is largely under-screened for cancers.
The MiRXES story is one of research and innovation from bench to bedside. From a three-man team, MiRXES has grown into a 350-strong team with labs and manufacturing facilities across the world.

To all A+ and O+ blood donors, we need you.
This is a call for more A+ and O+ blood donors to step forward to donate blood.
Our A+ and O+ blood stocks are running at low levels. We need 600 units of A+ blood and 1,200 units O+ blood over the next 2 weeks. Otherwise, major elective surgeries requiring these 2 blood units will have to be postponed.

OYK walked 11 km. 
Took a 11km walk (that’s what my phone said) with a few volunteers around my constituency yesterday – from #Sembawang CC to Sembawang Park to Hot Spring and back, stopping by for prata along the way. Should do this more often!
