WTF?! Why should taxpayer's money be used to pay for the ah neh's death?

KNN, not the company pay meh?

I have been reading online about comments and views about the recent riot and came to realise that a certain group of locals actually support and side the foreign rioters while dissing the police who were deployed to restore the peace.

I wonder what happened to this country?

Has the hatred for the government become so strong that locals are actually becoming anti-Singapore instead? These are some of the comments I came across.

- Some claimed that the riot happened because of poor salary (if poor salary why would they have money to drink until they are drunk? Even with alcohol being expensive in Singapore, they still have money to send home)

- Other says that the riot happened because of poor working condition and unfair treatment by employer. (if poor treatment, how can they still leave their dormitory to meet their friends for drink? There is even transport to and fro both places)

- Some political linked NGO started donation drive for the dead Indian worker who indirectly caused the riot and painting him as a victim. (Conveniently forgetting that prior to his death, he was drunk, causing trouble to the innocent female bus assistant by exposing himself and forcing himself to get onto the bus)

- Some dissed the effectiveness of the police and insulted the first responding group of officers attending the case. (There were only a handful of officers although they were armed, the rioters were massive. If a shot had been fired, there would be more than 1 death and it would be our people. Retreat was the right thing to do as reinforcement will deal with the rioters eventually. In any case, the riot was contained in an area and did not spill to other area of the country).

- There is now rumour that another group of people is suggesting that the Singapore government should pay the family of the dead foreign worker a sum of money since his death occurred in Singapore. (This is a definite NO! Once it start, all future death these will expect the same payout. The workers are insured so the insurance company will settle the payment. If taxpayers money is used, it would appear that that riot started by the foreign workers was justified. The signal must be correct.)

Didn't you read the memo from the pappy masters? Must show some sympathy, there is no room for xenophobia in Sinkieland. ;)

locals are not siding Indians national. Local are just hating PAP dogs

I think the PAP govt, at this point, is also having conflicting opinions towards the incident, and especially towards the issue of overreliance on foreign workers. The alcohol ban is nothing more than a fig leaf to cover the shameful nakedness beneath.

It'll be fun to read the COI's findings. One misstep or any attempt at dishonesty can have serious ramifications for the entire country... and for the political fortunes of the PAP. ;)

Also if any blood test conducted on these indian nationals?
how many of them failed the alcohol blood tests?
what would happen if only a very handful of those arrested failed the test?

also, could you really punish the drunkens?

nothing comes free in Sinkieland. even sympathy and empathy
