SINGAPORE: A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to four months' jail for hitting a policeman with a baton.
Ahmad Syidi Awang was found guilty of hurting Staff Sergeant Muhamad Lufti Abdul Razak at Marsiling Drive at about 6.30pm on June 26, 2012.
At the time of the incident, the victim and another police officer were on patrol while the accused was with his brother at the void deck.
The victim was told to keep watch on the accused, while his colleague escorted Ahmad's brother to the car to do a search.
Ahmad then got agitated and walked towards the victim and kicked him.
In the midst of a struggle, Ahmad picked up a baton that had dropped and hit Staff Sergeant Muhamad Lufti on his head, causing him to black out.
The two men were subsequently arrested.
Ahmad's brother was sentenced to two months' jail in October last year.
He had admitted to the charge of hurting a public servant and another charge relating to public nuisance.
