Man suspected of T-shirt theft arrested in Hougang

Police have arrested a 46-year-old man who is believed to have stolen clothing at Block 237 Hougang Street 21.

The police said that a resident had lodged a report earlier this month upon discovering that two of his T-shirts worth $70 had gone missing.

He had hung them on a bamboo rack in the common corridor of his flat.

From their investigations, officers managed to establish the identity of the suspect through closed-circuit TV footage of the suspect.

He was spotted and arrested at about 8.10pm in the vicinity of Hougang Avenue 2 on Friday.

If convicted of theft, the suspect faces a maximum jail term of three years, or a fine, or both.

We need more of these thieves around, especially in HDB estates.

If the residents are considerate enough, they will hang their clothes in their own designated area. Making use of the common corridor for their own purposes are simply selfish acts. Do you guys notice any of these things (mis-use of common properties) happening around those private estates? Sure, everybody wants to catch the sun, or have the extra space, but not ready to consider the feelings of others.

Well done thief!
