Upset and puzzled by the price differences, Mr Xu refused to pay for his medications and wrote in to CGH on 12 October to request for a detailed breakdown. Mr Xu received his “Statement of Accounts” on 2 November which merely stated that he owes the hospital $40.55 and did not provide any detailed breakdown for his medications.

Finally Mr Xu received a letter on 4 November from Ms Chang Sook Mei, CGH’s Assistant Director of Corporate Affairs and Quality Service saying that the $4.20 lotion is “heavily subsidised” and that “the product costs $8.07 per bottle without subsidy”. Furthermore “polyclinics, being a primary care setting may provide extra subsidy for the patients”.

Every time must double check. Some items once opened, they may charge for the whole box. So must call hospital and ask for clarification. Now some FT nurse anyhow humtam in the administration with not much item breakdown in the receipt or SOA. My family members also kenna same experience.:o

Actually medicine purchase by hospital is cheap because they buy in bulk. So the medicine should be cheaper than pharmacy.
Best is Malaysia only RM1off consultancy included medicine for any gov clinic/hospital. That call gov subsidy.
In Singapore there no subsidy for polyclinic/gov hospital. Only discount maybe 10~30% from private clinic.
