HE TREATED his tenant as if she was his wife but the pair had a tumultuous relationship. In May last year, Thang Thai Soon, 59, chased Madam Khoo Quee Kee, 45, out of his Ang Mo Kio flat. He later tried twice to get the food court cleaner to return home but she refused. On his third attempt, he knifed her to death at her workplace before jumping off a block two days later. In a joint coroner's inquiry on Thursday, the coroner recorded a verdict of murder for Ms Khoo's death and suicide for Thang's. The cleaner was knifed repeatedly in the chest and abdomen by Thang in the washing area of the food mall at about 10am on June 8 last year.

It was not said in court for how long Madam Khoo - divorced with an eight-year-old son - had been living with Thang. But when she started work at the Horizon Food Mall at Causeway Point in October 2007, she told Ms Wong Nyet Fah, a co-worker, that she was paying Thang $200 in rent to stay at his flat. Thang, who was unemployed, lived with his mother in the flat. He was estranged from his wife and two adult children because he had been violent towards them. Thang was also a former Institute of Mental Health patient and was diagnosed as suffering from serious depression and an anti-social personality. Court documents also said he had a long history of impulsive, irresponsible and destructive behaviour. A massive police manhunt was mounted for Thang, who remained at large for two days. CCTV footage showed he had taken the MRT to Yio Chu Kang before boarding a bus to Jalan Eunos. The cops finally found him dead at the foot of a block in Jalan Tenaga, Eunos. He was believed to have jumped from the 14th floor.

another tragedy of PDMM.came here penniless,,,try all means to survive...and invariably get into compromising situations..and in this case met up with a ex-IMH man...how many more of such cases..........the bus driver that kill the step daugher after the PRC PDMM gone astray...another man who killed his lover PDMM after she got other lovers........
it is tragedy bcos all these PDMM came here thinking they can earn a decent living to support the child]s education..and our gobmen regulatory bodies did not make it mandatory for them to deposit adequate monies here bfore granting them visa.......

it is a humanity problem,,,and should be monitored and controlled and regulated to prevent more of such tragedy to happens.........
