A MAN who had sex repeatedly with a 13-year-old girl was jailed for nine months yesterday.
Muhammad Ramadan Asni, 25, a deliveryman, admitted to two charges of sexually abusing the student at staircase landings in Housing Board blocks in February 2011.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Elizabeth Chua said the pair came to know each other in 2010 through a mutual friend.
In the course of their friendship, they would meet and, on one occasion, she showed him her ez-link card. He realised then that she was only 13.
Some time in February 2011, he took her to a staircase landing in Block 215, Serangoon Avenue 4.
He chose the place as he knew that it was fenced up due to lift-upgrading works and they could not be seen. There, she performed oral sex on him.
Some time in the same month, they met in a library in Tampines Central.
When he told her that he wished to engage in anal sex with her, she agreed. They walked to a third-floor staircase landing of an HDB block where the offence was committed.
He had two other sexual offences considered during his sentencing.
She lodged a police report on Aug 17 that year, stating that between January and July 10, she had had consensual sex with six men.
Of the six, three have been dealt with. One of them received 12 months' probation while the other two were given two months' and three months' jail respectively.
Ramadan's lawyer Abdul Salim A.Ibrahim said the single father of a six-year-old child has a disability.
He had to cope with illnesses, the death of his father, delayed speech, mild mental retardation and financial difficulties.
He was educated in special needs schools and was exempted from national service in view of his psychological condition and history,
Despite her youthful age, the girl was promiscuous, counsel said.
She contacted Ramadan regularly and asked him out but he was not interested to get too close to her as he was told that she had had sex with two other persons.
Ramadan could have been jailed for up to 10 years and/or fined on each charge.
