SINGAPORE - A 25-year-old man was Wednesday sentenced to 10 months' jail for having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Muhammad Faisalrullah Omar admitted to having consensual sex with the girl between Jan 9 and 24, 2010.

The Straits Times reported that the pair met through a telephone chat line in December 2009, after which they met in person.

Telling Faisalrullah she was 14 years old, she went to his flat at Upper Boon Keng Road where they had sex.

They stopped communicating with each other after that.

The paper reported that Faisalrullah was placed on 12 months' probation in 2006 for carnal connection.

He could have been jailed for up to 10 years and fined for the offence.

Muhamad Faisalrullah Omar, 25, had believed the girl was 17 years old.

After they met up inJanuary, she followed him willingly to his HDB flat and they got intimate with each other in his room.

When he asked her for her student pass, she told him that she was below 16 years of age.

His lawyer, Mr S S Dhillon, told the court that Muhamad Faisalrullah could think only about sex.

For having sex with a minor, Muhamad Faisalrullah was sentenced yesterday to 10 months in jail.
