A man was jailed for one week and banned from driving for five years on Thursday for causing the death of a motorcyclist at a pedestrian crossing.
Lim Eng Hwa, 47, had admitted earlier this month to negligently causing the death of Mr Loo Khoon Teck by failing to slow down when approaching the signalised pedestrian crossing along Bedok Reservoir Road on July 31, 2011.
His car hit the 56-year-old driver's motorbike which had stopped at the red lights just before a bus stop.
The court heard that Lim later admitted to the police that as he approached the signalised pedestrian crossing, he was not aware of the motorcycle in front of him.
