A man was fined $6,000 and banned from driving for three years on Tuesday for causing the death of a cyclist.
Chua Bao Chong, 25, then self-employed, was driving a car along Still Road when he abruptly made a left turn into Chin Cheng Avenue and caused the cyclist to hit his car on March 23 last year.
The cyclist, Mak Lye Choon, died of head injuries eight days later.
A district court heard that Chua was driving alongside the 53-year-old odd-job worker on the extreme left lane of Still Road at about 8.50pm when he overtook the bicycle and turned left into Chin Cheng Avenue without giving a left signal.
