Man charged with torching car
By Elena Chong
A MAN was charged in court on Tuesday with torching a car on behalf of an unlicensed moneylender. No plea was taken from Low Chick Kim, 30, a barista. He, together with housing agent Chua Shau Hwee, 35, are said to have set fire to a Lexus car at a multi-storey carpark at Choa Chu Kang North 5 on Oct 13 in connection with a loan taken out by a borrower. Chua has been charged. The incident damaged two other vehicles. Low and his accomplice allegedly left five pieces of debtors' notes near Deck 2B of the multi-storey carpark. If convicted, Low can be jailed for up to five years, fined up to $50,000 and given not less than three strokes of the cane. Low will be back in court next Tuesday.
