Man charged with murder

A CLEANING supervisor was charged in court on Monday with the murder of a man at Toa Payoh last Saturday. Ravindra Tagore R. Pillai, 57, is alleged to have caused the death of Mr Charles Gunalingam, 36, unemployed, at Block 170 Lorong 1 between 10.27pm and 11.03pm. He was remanded at Central division lock-up for a week. The case will be mentioned next on March 22. If convicted of the capital charge, Ravindra faces the mandatory death penalty.

SINGAPORE: A man accused of murder will undergo psychiatric evaluation at the Changi Medical Centre.

Fifty-seven year old Ravindra Tagore R Pillay allegedly killed 36-year-old Charles Gunalingam at Block 170, Lorong 1 Toa Payoh on March 13 this year.

Tagore will appear again in court on April 12. If convicted of murder, he could face the death sentence.
