Man charged with ill-treating toddler

SINGAPORE: A man has been charged with ill-treating a child.
The 24-year-old man is the boyfriend of the victim's aunt.
He allegedly abused his position while the two-year-old child was under his care.
The man, who cannot be named, is accused of hitting the toddler with a clothes hanger and scalding his foot with a heated iron some time on 7 January 2011.
The incident occurred at a flat along Teck Whye Lane.
If convicted, the man can be fined up to S$4,000 or serve up to four years in jail, or both.
